Quinta do Noval

What a finale with one of the biggest names in Port, QUINTA DO NOVAL

MASTERCLASS

SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2020

TIME: 20:00 - 20:30

Quinta do Noval is an historic name with an iconic status in the world of wine, located in the heart of the Douro Valley where great wines have been made since the early 18th century. The vines are perfectly situated along a steep hillside in the heart of the Douro Valley where they flourish and produce the highest-grade fruit.

During this virtual tasting, Ana Carvahlo, Brand Ambassador for Quinta do Noval, will discuss four ports. She has chosen two ruby style ports which offer excellent quality and value, Noval Black and Late Bottled Vintage. Followed by two of their famous Tawny ports, the 10 Year Old Tawny and the 20 Year Old Tawny. You will learn about the differences in the winemaking of each style and what to expect when you taste these delicious ports.

Noval Black                                                                                  £18.55

Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Sousão

Noval Black Reserve is a ruby Port which comes elegantly packaged. With a distinctly contemporary edge port it is destined to be enjoyed with dark chocolate or simply drunk chilled, used also as a cocktail ingredient. A clear expression of the Noval style, no ageing and no decanting necessary. No complications, just a great glass of Port.

Quinta do Noval Late Bottled Vintage 2013                    £24.95

Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca , Tempranillo, Tinta Cão

Yet another wonderful LBV Port from Quinta do Noval - the first house to produce a Late Bottled Vintage expression all the way back in 1958. Clearly still a popular style, as it continues to be made even today. A deep ruby colour with an intense and elegant aroma. Great aromatic richness and a mouthful of ripe black fruits and spices. It has fine but solid tannins that gives it a structure of great amplitude and a long and flavourful finish.

Quinta do Noval 10 Year Old Tawny                                  £19.95

Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão, Tinta Roriz

Noval's 10 Year Old Tawny is a blend of old Ports from different vintages that have matured in oak casks with an average age of 10 years. A mellow and complex wine that makes a brilliant match for a rich and chocolatey dessert. Aromas of walnuts and dried fruits, with a palate rich in caramel, toffee, figs, crystallised orange peel, fudge and spices.

Quinta do Noval 20 Year Old Tawny                                  £48.95

Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão, Tinta Roriz

Noval's 20 Year Old Tawny Port is made entirely with the produce of the world-famous vineyards of the Quinta do Noval historic estate, in the Douro region. A complex wine to pair with your favourite nuts and cheese. Velvety on the palate with notes of roasted almonds, dried fruits, nuts, vanilla, and a pinch of tobacco.

Carlos Agrellos, Technical Director at Quinta do Noval describes this wine…

"The colour is the classic hue of Old Tawny port with golden glints. The elegant bouquet suggests dry fruit and almonds, which give it its original character. On the palate, the elegant smoothness and high concentration herald a delectable and beautifully long finish."
