Majestic

Inspired festive wines to beat the 2020 blues from MAJESTIC - with Susie & Peter!

MASTERCLASS

SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2020

TIME: 18:30 - 19:00

Join Susie and Peter as they rampage round their local Majestic Wine store, grabbing some brilliant value alternatives to the festive classics.

It's been a strange and challenging year. Susie and Peter's selections have all been carefully chosen to celebrate some of the countries and regions that have been hardest hit this year. From Australia (remember the torrid bushfires that marked the start of the year?) to South Africa, where wine producers have been hit by draconian sales and export bans and restrictions. California's wildfires and significant lockdowns in both Italy and Spain are also reflected in this selection.

Here's to kissing a delicious goodbye to 2020! And here's to 2021...

If you're intending to join in this masterclass, please do sign up to the Wine Festival's newsletter. That way, they can keep you updated with the latest details you'll need to know before the event.

Please do chill the fizz and white beforehand and be sure to have the wines open and glasses ready to go before the session starts. If you have a Google/Gmail account, please do sign into YouTube ahead of time too - that way you can post comments or questions live during the masterclass. Or get your social media primed and ready! If you have any problems, please email hello@thewinefestival.co.uk.

  2. Creation Chardonnay (South Africa)
  3. Villa Borghesi Valpolicella Ripasso (Italy)
  4. De Bortoli Botrytis Semillon (Australia)

To order, please contact your local Majestic team directly. You can find their email address or phone number via this link: FIND YOUR LOCAL MAJESTIC. Please quote 'Online Festival Case' when you get in touch.

The specially discounted Festival price is £80.94, and delivery is FREE from your local store in Winchester, Alton, Basingstoke or Southampton.

Details of all the wines are as below.

Louis Roederer Quartet Brut NV, California, USA (£22.99 down from £29.99)

The sensational sparkling wine made in coastal California by the acclaimed Champagne house Louis Roederer. A great alternative to classic bubbles for this year's festivities.

Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay, Margaret River, Australia (£12.99 down from £14.99)

One of Susie and Peter's favourite high-street whites, this is pure class in a glass: gently nutty, wonderfully refreshing and amazing value. It would stand comparison with Chablis at twice the price.

Creation Chardonnay, Walker Bay, South Africa (£12.99 down from £14.99)

A richer style of Chardonnay but still super elegant and stylish, with beautifully refreshing acidity and a complex, resonant finish. A good value alternative to the great white Burgundies of the Côte d'Or.

Villa Borghetti Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore, Italy (£12.99 down from £14.99)

One of the sexiest, most beguiling Valpols Susie and Peter have tried in a long-time, this classic producer has delivered a cherry-scented, juicy and utterly moreish mouthful that is nothing short of sensational value for money. A wine that comes into its own with food.

Muga Rioja Reserva, Spain (£17.99 down from £19.99)

Like sinking into your favourite armchair after a long day, this is a heart-warming comfort wine that is made for dark, cold days and long meals. Dense, complex and refined, it's not cheap but you get so much wine for the price. And you're worth it.

De Bortoli Botrytis Semillon, Riverina, Australia (£9.99 down from £12.99)

It may only be a half bottle but this delightful Australian 'sticky' (sweet wine) packs in the most intense, luscious and golden flavours. It's well balanced and moreish, a taste of hedonism at a very sensible price.
