Denbies

The Denbies team are delighted to be involved in Wine Festival Online 2020. Denbies Wine Estate is located in the heart of Surrey Wine country on the outskirts of Dorking. Producing an estimated 500,000 single estate bottles per annum, Denbies is one of the larger English wine producers, family owned and run since 1984. Join us on a virtual journey with a brief introduction to the people who make it all possible.

What to expect? A virtual tour of the 265-acre vineyard and a detailed, behind-the-scenes overview of the 2020 harvest. This year, in spite of the late frost, the quality of the harvest has been exceptional. An opportunity to learn about the decision making that goes into the style of wines that are made in any one year will provide a fascinating insight into the wine making process.

Andy Kershaw, Denbies Assistant Winemaker, will host an in depth tasting of Denbies selection of premium wines. The video will also include an entertaining virtual Q & A, with a range of questions from one of Denbies' WSET Wine Experts.

1 x Pinot Noir 2018

Crafted from grapes grown in one of the estate’s premium blocks, we only make a straight Pinot Noir in the very best of years. This elegant edition came on the back of the long, hot summer of 2018. The nose and palate are interwoven with layers of Florence strawberries and Sweetheart cherries. Seventeen months in French oak barriques leads to a gentle, vanilla finish, which pairs brilliantly with ripe cheeses and grilled lamb.

1 x Ranmore Hill 2018

This wine is made in only the best of seasons from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Bacchus grapes. A buttery, creamy nose with hints of ripe red apple leads into a fully flavoured palate with notes of pear and melon. This dry, full-bodied wine partners perfectly with chicken and pork dishes, as well as fresh fish and grilled vegetables.

1 x Cubitt Blancs de Noir 2013

This full-bodies wine has a fine mousse and a creamy, rich texture. Complex aromas and flavours of baked pear and rose petal are complemented by a hint of strawberry. The balance of fruit, minerals and crisp acidity lead to a round mouthfeel and lasting finish.

A lively nose of lime zest and ripe pear leads to a fresh and vibrant citrus palate with good minerality and well balanced acidity
